In order for your child to return to in-person learning, you must submit the consent form for in-school COVID-19 testing by the first day your child returns to their school building.

    Important School Reopening Update

    Please see letter which discusses the school building reopening schedule and required consent for mandatory in-school testing. Translations of the family letter will be available as soon as possible at Note that students must submit consent by the first day of in-person attendance in order to attend.

    When MS217Q reopens, weekly COVID testing will occur in the school building. All families of blended students will need to provide consent to be tested prior to the first day of in-person learning. Please note - you may have already provided consent at the beginning of the school year, however, you will need to provide consent again for weekly testing.  Please consent before January 25, 2020. 

    Families can submit consent using their New York City Schools Account (NYCSA) online. If you need assistance or have any questions about providing consent please reach out to our parent coordinator, Ms. Vega at

    Academic Enrichment

    Hello families!

    We are excited to offer students the opportunity to join our Online Academic Support Program at MS 217. Our Online Academic Support Program will include Math and ELA support for grades 6 and 7 and Algebra, ELA and Living Environment for grade 8 students.

    • The program will begin on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. All program sessions will run from 3:00-4:00 PM. Please note subject and grade level support will be offered on various days throughout the week so students may attend each subject session.

    • The Online Academic Support Program will take place remotely online via Google Meet - there will be no in-person sessions. Please see the days and dates for each grade and subject attached .

    • All families who are interested in the Online Academic Support Program must complete this Google form by January 11, 2021. Please use your MS217 email address to complete the Online Academic Support Program form. All students who register by January 11, 2021 will receive a registration confirmation email titled: After School Academic Support Program Registration Confirmation on January 12, 2020 with the days, dates and times as well as the Google Classroom/Google Meet links to join the Online Support Program. Please note space is limited and placement will come on a first come, first serve basis.

    • If you receive a waitlist confirmation email, we will email you once space is available in the program. Online After School Academic Student Expectations:

    Attend every scheduled session - please email your teacher if you will be absent

    1. Arrive on time with a charged device

    2. Be respectful of the teacher and your classmates

    3. Engage in the lesson and participate as often as possible

    4. Ask questions when you don’t understand something

    5. Ask for help when needed! For any additional questions, please reach out to your Guidance Counselor.

    Again, if interested, please complete the Online Academic Support Program Google Form no later than January 11, 2021.
